Online game: City of heroes

all the games ive brought u so far have been free to play, but today im gonna tell you about a great Pay 2 Play game called city of heroes.

City of Heroes is an online world where you can play as any hero you can dream up, then hit the streets of paragon city. The first thing youll notice about the game is its great graphics, wiht their smooth lines and great, very 3D textures. Another awsome aspect is the character creator, which allows you to create any hero you can possibly think of. the combat in this game is fun and engaging, and very rarely will it play out the same, the travel powers are cool, allowing you to fly , jump to magnificent hights, teleport yourself and others or run at super speeds. The only real complaint I have with this game is the lack of variation in the landscape as most of the fairly large world is identical city sections whose only real difference is their color and atmosphere. Also, NCsoft just released City of Villians, which allows you to play as a villian and defeat that hero who dumped you deep in a high level area last night. CoV ties into CoH nicely, allwing players to battle in special pvp zones. One final note, one of the best features of city of heroes is the sidekick system, which allows a lvl 1 newbie to team up with a friend who may be lvl 30 or 40 and still survive and gain exp. Although there are some dissapointments, tis game really does make you feel like a hero, from saving a pedestrian getting robbed, to saving the city from alien attacks.

the good: blowing apart an enemy with a whole team of concentrated attacks
the bad: getting triple teamed in FFA arena
the Ugly: Falling 80 stories out of the air then getting pulverized by machine gun fire (ouch)

Online game: Anarchy Online

You have probably heard the name Anarchy Online before as it is synonymous
with online games, and guess what? Its now free! Thats right, for the next year or so (I think) the base game is available for free download and play, you dont even need a credit card for "verification" purposes! Now this game is no WoW but is certainly entertaining, especially if your on a pc which cant run games like WoW and Everquest II. The game is pretty much the same as any other MMo out today, one cool thing is the huge selection of classes and the neat vehicles available are nice. All In all this game is worth the download if you arent already playing a pay to play game like WoW.

Review: the Movies

The Movies is the game Machinima creators have been waiting for (for those of you that dont know machinima is the creation of film using video games). In this game you run a movie studio, doing everything from hiring Janitors and building sets to keeping your hottest stars happy, you can also use the most comprehensive movie creation tool ever. First off, the tycoon aspect of the game is great, it may not be the best but it certainly is one of the better ones Ive played, as it is quite deep and lasts for a very long time, which is nice as you get to see your studio grow over 85 years of filmmaking. As fun as the tycoon aspect is, the star of the show here is the movie maker, which makes the Sims 2's look like a child's toy. The first thing you'll notice about the movie maker is the massive number of sets and scenes there are, soon after you will realize the complexity of the system, but never fear! There are a great number of tutorials to help you get started and you can upload your movies to The Movies Communit Website. Although the movie maker is a bit intimidating this game is great fun for anyone who enjoys machinima or tycoon games.

Final Verdict: 9/10
the good: Seeing the reviews of Real people online praising your newest release.
the bad: seeing the reviews of your first few movies...
the ugly: watching your star's steady decline into alchohol addiction.

SWBF2 Map strategy01: Space

Well here is the first entry in the SWBF2 strategy guide by me.
Space battles are a fun part of Battlefront 2 but they can be challenging sometimes. One thing you have to forget is the notion of using transports as mobile spawn points in single player, because no matter wha you do, AI units will fly it away. That being said, there is still a use for transports, they make good attack units as their lasers are quite powerful, but dont even think about going after fighters. One last note about transports, come in low so auto turrets cant hit you otherwise they will rip you to shreds. As far as winning goes, there is really only one option, one you destroy the enemies sheilds and land in their hangar, destroying them from within. After that just pick off fighters till you win, if the nemy starts getting close to tying you in points, just start bombing their outer systems, such as bridge, communications, etc.

I know I know, I said I would bring you the top ten online games but I havent played enough to judge well, so instead im bringing you 1 free online game a week! These could be flash games, free mmos whatever, as long as they are online. today's game, Gunz The Duel found at www.gunzonline.com , this game is an online shooter that is available free, with no strings attached as it is currently in beta. The cool part about this game is that rather than selecting your weapon when you spawn, instead you actually buy your weapons, which range from dual pistols to swords, from a shop in the game lobby. You purchase new gear with bounty points you gain from getting kills in game. You also get experience which levels you up, giving you more health and the ability to purchase and use better more powerful weapons and armor. In game the game plays like most FPSs except for that fact that its in third person. One cool aspect is the Max Payne like acrobatics, which allow you to run along walls, do diving rolls and even wall jump. Graphically the game is great consideing it is only a 108 meg download and that its free. Unfortunately there arent many maps, but the game is actively updated and the way the maps are laid out they feel like an old fashion shooter like golden eye. Anyway this game is a must download for shooter fans, and considering its only 108 megs its well worth it. Rating 8.5/10

Issue 1 post 1: Star Wars Battlefront 2 review

Star Wars Battlefront 2 does things which view games have done, it blends incredible space combat, thundering vehicle combat, frenzied infantry battles and the lightsaber action that Star Wars fans have come to love into one attractive package.

Gameplay:
As far as the gameplay elements go, all new features have been executed very well, jedi are smooth and easy to control and although space combat can be a little irritating due to the nessecity of being a bomber in conquest it is still a riot. One dissapointment for me was the idiotic friendly AI, they may carry out there own tasks well but the only thing you can tell them to do is follow you or get into your vehicle, but at least they follow you pretty well. As far as space combat goes, the goal is to destroy key elements of the enemy's ship, such as life support, bridge, engines, etc. to gain points, when you hit the point cap you win, unfortunately killing a fighter grants you a pitifully small amount of points so it is almost inpossible to win without playing in a bomber. the jedi are awsome though, they have excellent force abilities such as Lightning, choke and saber throw, all the powers work well and they are a riot to use. As far as the good ol' rough and tmble gournd battles of the originals, they are back in full force with new units such as the republic commando or the Bothan spy. Gameplay rating 9.8/10

Unfortunately, due to the massive action displayed on the screen, the graphics pale in comparison with some games on the market today, this doesnt mean they are bad, just not blow you away amazing. The textures are crisp and clean, and luckily they are quite detailed. The characters are much better than the first but dont match up to some of the titles we are seeing released on the consoles. As far a framerate issues I havent noticed any at all.
Graphics rating: 8.5/10

Sound
Sound has always been a staple of the star wars games, and SWBFII is no exception, the game features many more voices than the first and the intens music will cause your palms to sweat as much as that TIE on your tail. My only complaint is the ridiculous music played in mos eisley in the heroes versus villians mode, it is the rediculous song from Jabba's sail barge, sung by a strange alien.
Sound rating 9.9/10

Overall rating: 9.5/10, Fantastic
The good: Hearing the chears of your team mates over the xbox live headset as you take the enemy's lasr command post.
The Bad: Thinking youve escaped darth vader only to hear is creepy breathing.
the Ugly: Wathcing an idiot A.I. crash your transport into the wall of the enemy ship, moments after you park.
